The
UCSD Adult Cystic Fibrosis Clinic has a long tradition of providing state of the
art medicine
CYSTIC FIBROSIS FOUNDATION PATIENT
REGISTRY
More than 30 years ago the Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation started a Patient Registry to track the health of patients
with cystic fibrosis across the United States. Today information from more
than 20,000 patients who receive care at a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation-accredited
center is collected and added to the Patient Registry database yearly.
This information is collated into graphs and trends and sent to each of the
centers so that physicians specializing in Cystic Fibrosis (CF) can improve the
quality of care of their patients.
The UCSD Adult Cystic Fibrosis
Center is committed to the Cystic Fibrosis Patient Registry. We are
currently requesting the involvement from all of our patients to be enrolled in
this study. Participation in the Patient Registry helps physicians not
only improve the quality of life of those with cystic fibrosis, but also helps
in reaching the goal of finding a cure. To find out more please contact

INHALED
AZTREONAM STUDY
We are
currently involved in a study on an inhaled drug by the name of Aztreonam.
This is an old drug that has been around for years but is usually given through
an IV. Patients must meet certain criteria to be eligible for this study.
Participants
in the trial are asked to perform (2) nebulized treatments of the drug each
day. We periodically monitor spirometry and sputum studies. There is
a participant reimbursement fee. Those interested in being involved with
the study should contact Bobbie Munden at 619/543-7963 or Julie Wood, MD at
858/657-7145.
Please continue monitoring this
web site for further research projects..
