Mission Statement

The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care, an academic branch of the University of California, School of Medicine, is committed to pioneering and advancing medicine by setting the highest standards for professional education, biomedical research, and patient care within our discipline.

Our commitment begins as lifelong students and continues as teachers of pulmonary and critical care medicine dedicated to:

  • Developing physician leaders for academic medicine and industry;
  • Pioneering and advancing medicine through research aimed at developing new strategies for the prevention, detection and treatment of respiratory diseases;
  • Caring for patients as a multidisciplinary team of professionals who apply the latest scientific and medical advances with competence, compassion, ethics and humility.
