Here are some highlights of our Pulmonary Research. For more information on all pulmonary-related areas of research, visit Lab & Centers.
Our research team aims to gain a greater understanding of sleep and sleep disorders with the hope of improving the treatment of sleep disorders.
We are interested in the pathophysiology of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), ranging from the inflammatory response at a cellular level to larger organ contributions with pulmonary-renal interactions.
Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a type of mechanical life support. Our research evaluates biomarker changes associated with clinical interventions for patients on ECMO.
After an ICU admission, patients often struggle with cognitive, physical, and mental impairment--a group of symptoms known as Post-Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS).
Our research investigates physiologic mechanisms of the respiratory system. Our goal is to assess respiratory mechanics and function to assist in the diagnosis and understanding of pulmonary-related diseases.
