Scholar's Tobacco Advocacy and Research (STAR) Program

We are no longer accepting applications for the 2024-2025 year. Please check back in November 2024 to apply to be a STAR Scholar for the upcoming year!

"The support received in the STAR Program goes beyond anything I have ever experienced. It means a lot to know there are people out there that truly want to see you succeed and will do whatever in their means to help."

-2023/2024 STAR Scholar

The STAR program is a joint program by UC San Diego and California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) that offers individuals with limited previous experience in the tobacco field an opportunity to join our community of researchers and advocates. We are dedicated to advancing the understanding of tobacco use and its impact on public health. STAR is designed to provide aspiring researchers and advocates with personalized guidance, support, and resources to develop their skills, knowledge, and expertise in the field. Through our program, you will have the chance to learn from experts, engage in cutting-edge research, and actively participate in advocacy efforts aimed at reducing tobacco use and promoting tobacco control policies. Join us in our mission to make a positive impact on public health and engage in the global fight against tobacco-related diseases.
